Montana Environmental Trust Group serves as the court-appointed trustee of the Montana Environmental Custodial Trust, managing environmental cleanup at four former ASARCO mining and smelting sites across Montana. The organization oversees remediation of soil, sediment, and groundwater contamination at properties totaling approximately 4,265 acres, including the former East Helena smelter facility. METG operates under RCRA corrective action requirements and works in partnership with the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the State of Montana as beneficiaries of the custodial trust.
